It all started with Doyle Brunson’s Super System Poker, it was the poker book that was the most popular at the time. It was the most widely read book about poker and the most talked about of all time. Brunson’s Super System Poker book was published 30 years ago and may be deemed as out dated and irrelevant in today’s poker universe. However there is no denying that his concepts and advice are still applicable.

I am referring to the core message of the Super System Poker book by Brunson which I think is still relevant up till today. In fact Brunson decided to republish his Super System poker book and he may have changed a lot of the text and chapters but he maintained that core element of the book the Super System Poker 2.

Critics of Brunson’s book said that the original Super System poker book specifically the no limit section was too vague and that Brunson kept rehashing advice with the use of vague words such as -feel’ and to critics this is one aspect of poker that can not be taught, not even by Brunson’s Super Sytem poker book.

Other critics also add that Brunson’s Super System poker advice is not relevant specifically for players who do online poker games because the strategies employed in the super system poker deep stack strategies, which is the expertise Brunson relied on and in which his Super System of Poker worked. To be fair these are valid comments but some are misconceptions of these critics. Based on my personal account I can say that Brunson’s Super System poker works and it had made me money through out these years.

You see when I was starting out reading Brunson’s Super System Poker book among other I used to high light the passages I though were useful and those that I wanted to memorize by heart. However as more knowledge came to me and my sophistication when it came to poker at least grew I realize I did not need those passages what was important was the concept behind those packages. When you read Brunson’s and other poker books such as the Super System Poker you will come to realize that it isn’t what is written that is important it is what is implied that you will make you a better poker player and you can only achieve this through understanding poker on a deeper level. The thing is you make take 100 different poker players ask them to read Brunson’s book they will have different take on it depending on their skill level.
So do I recommend Brunson’s Super System poker book? Yes! It is a classic book that will teach you new tricks over and over again through time.
