As a matter of ethics, spas in London have a defined code of ethics. They are strict on the offers that are given to their clients. In particular, the 2 for 1 London spa deals are only given to clients who are couples of different sex in accordance to the rules set by the London Association of Spas. The rule came into existence in 1989 when it was discovered that same sex couples would use the facilities. This was before same-sex marriages were legalized and even after they were, the rule has remained unchanged. Concern was raised by straight couples who could not share the spa with the said couples.
